Candido Godol, a small town in Brazil, has long astonished the world with its very abnormally high level of birth rates for twins. The rate is nearly a thousand percent higher than the global average: "the 80 households in a one-square-mile area have reportedly some 38 pairs of twins. Blond, blue-eyed twins."
National Geographic Explorer is digging into this mystery and they have come up with a pretty out there, and horrifying, theory. They investigate claims that mad Nazi scientist Joseph Mengele, who escaped to Brazil, continued his research into using twins as a way to build a perfect Aryan master race. One historian thinks Mengele succeeded, and this town is the proof.http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/series/explorer/4087/Videos/07485_00This cannot be a coincidence! Very intriguing stuff indeed.

Well after further reading this is apparently little more than sensationalist media. Shame on National Geographic!

Erm ... correct me if I'm wrong, but south americans aren't aryan right? and if an originally totally aryan town been around for so long, without any hollywood'ish b-horror plot, then it's bound to be completely filled with half bloods anyway .. aye? ;P

Precisely! The headline was used to grab unsuspecting audiences. Got to admit though, they do have a high percentage of twins. Which is awesome come to think of it!

speaking of which, this whole fleeing-nazi-scientist-continues-illegal-horrid-experiements-in-secret plot thing ... are there any factual basis, or was this something concocted up and passed on among conspiracy theorists? i seem to recall similar stuff in games, books, movies and stuff ..

hahaha ... while i didn't read everything in detail, but what i did catch, seems to be more along the line of this sentence from the wiki John Gimbel concludes that some of Germany's best minds were simply put on ice for three years by the U.S. and therefore could not contribute to the German recovery. rather than the other (entirely fictional?) stuff like in the V for Vendetta movie
