I'm not sure whether to be excited, terrified, uncaring or all of the above. I have no problem with scientists doing their thing, it just seems that with this thing, they've reached a peak of the things they 'should' be doing and might be moving into things they shouldn't. I mean, if it really is that dangerous, which it seems is a genuine concern, I don't really want to die because of it...

I'm pretty much on the same page as Hali on this one.
Potential outcomes:
1 - They discover the secrets of the universe
2 - They commit epic fail and nothing changes
3 - They kill us all in a split microsecond
Although, when you think about it, for one of these miniature black holes to be able to do some actual damage... well, a black hole is (in theory...) simply a WHOLE lot of mass in a really small spot. For it to be able to suck shit in, it's going to need enough mass to take on a gravity of its own. There's no mass inside the LHC to speak of, so I find it unlikely.
...on the other hand, this thing is buried below tons of swiss earth. If it should actually happen, it's going to have more than enough dense mass around it to grow superfast, and kill us all off in a *swosh*.

Access, on the 10th, they're only sending particles in one direction so there should be no collisions. It's the collisions that are coming in October that are being dragged through the courts. But I'm sure you'll enjoy holding Red anyway, even though theres no liklihood of the world ending at the time... Although knowing you two, I expect *something* earth shattering will happen Oooooh did you read? They're probably going to make the third Ghostbusters film soon...  |
