allthough the ship sounds interesting I dont know how good it qwill be in multiplayer on account it sounds like a single player/1vs1 game.
Red Orchestra is pretty sweet as it emphasizes heavily on team play. Example if you jump into a tank alone, you have to move between the gunner seat and drivers seat resulting in slower movement and slower reload time while a tank with a driver, gunner, commander is just lethal and INCREDIBLE fun to drive when you coopreate well.
You also have infantry who serve their role by taking out support troops, laying mines or using panzerfaust to kill enemy tanks. And no there are no 3rd person view like in Battlefield, so when inside a tank you wont see that much. Compare it with that scene in private ryan when the Yanks are hiding behind small amount of rubble and the German tank drives by quite close to them.
Red Orchestra is like that.
Many times I have had to abandon a tank because it had been set of fire from receiving too much damage, and being a tank crew you are only equiped with a gun....making you easy prey for proper infantry. I had to run through destroyed buildings being on the lookout for enemy infantry as well as tanks. When you get in 'the zone' the game can be quite consuming. Meaning you forget about time and place.
Oh and nothing is more awsome that having a shotout with an enemy tank.
You rotate your gun turret and suddenly you see something that looks like a tank. IT IS A TANK!
You fire and miss, then you see the gun turret of the enemy tank is rotating to see where the shot came from, and spots you. You shout for your commander to fire up the engines and get ready to move. Reload complete! You fire another shot and the projectile bounces right off the enemy Tiger tank armour (damage is very realistic) Then the you see the enemy is making small adjustments to its gun turret meaning his aiming at you. You hear your commander has the engines fired up and the tank starts to move....very slowly. all you have time to say is 'oh fuck'
BOOM YOU DIE!
There are several type of tanks in game, you got light, medium and heavy tanks. Light tanks can just forget about taking out heavy tanks. You have to have several medium ones to take out heavy tanks. And heavy tanks pwn but they have weak spots in their rear armour and are slow and reload slow though have superior range. The slower a tank is, the more vurnerable it is for infantry equiped with tank killer weapons. When being a tank commander, you can open up a small hatch and stick your head out to get a better overview of the battlefield, but doing that usually results in enemy infantry putting a bullet in your head

edit : Maps
Some of the maps are huuuuuge, some of them with a lot of open areas (bye bye infantry) and others in streets surrounded by 3-5 floor buildings (bye bye tanks) I prefer the maps that are in the country side. I enjoy parking my tank behind a wall or something then try to take out other tanks from kilometres away. If you miss, its fun to see how the enemy tank is desperatly trying to figure out where the shot came from....but thats a double edged sword really.
