It is with great honour that we celebrate our dear leader's dedication to servicing us all those years, but the People's Party decided to discuss possible plans of succession, due to our dear leader's pressing engagements in the realm of WoW. Dear comrades, do you want a new leader whilst our current dear leader retires to his newfound interests, and yet retains most honourary status? More importantly, do we have a comrade in our ranks who is willing to take upon him or herself such grave responsibility and valour?
PS - I would like to assure my fellow comrades that is not a coup d'état, and that our dear leader's wish will always be honoured.
*gulp*

Three things: 1.Atebash has a job as well, he doesn't just play Wow, he's allowed to be busy. 2.If you're worried about something in the forums, thats controlled by Harry so you ask Harry about it. 3.I don't think you're in a position to be deciding the future leadership of this site.

I've said this so many times before its silly, if we had more active moderation, and delt with some of the stagnation this forum might come back to life again. I think the first time I said it was back in 2003/04. I warned that this forum was going downhill and if I remember correctly you Halibut were one of those that claimed me to be wrong. This forum needs a firm and guiding hand.

Witchy, that's precisely the problem. Plus, the main attraction of the website is gone (file hosting services like megaupload are already there so go figure). We might just as well be posting on EZBoard. Hali told me about cease and desist orders and whatnot, but i reckons dozens of titles are abandonware. Or, the site's attraction might change entirely.

As far as I'm aware, there is no such thing as true 'abandonware', because very few licensers have given up their licenses. Places that still have their games are lucky, or their owners don't mind running the risk of getting shut down for good.

Places that still have their games are lucky, or their owners don't mind running the risk of getting shut down for good. The other problem is the way interllectual properties laws are worded, particularlly in Britain. If a creator wishes to release a game into the public domain as freeware the creator runs a major risk of relinquishing all interlectual property rights. This would prevent him from being able to protect legally deriviative works and sequels. Meaning other people could release and sell sequels. Sadly British IP laws take the stance that if you dont defend your IP properly, then you lose it. America and Australia are the same, but not to the extent of Britain. Also, give me root access and let me put back Birthdays =D
