i just tried to drown guybrush in EMI, but it didnt work, he made his own way to the surface

Thats is interesting isnt it though... Could this be a British only censorship alteration, or do you think it would be universal? I know it's quite tame, but sometimes beuocracy has a loud voice of disunion and stupid things get set in motion.

nope, aparantly it happens in all of versions of the game...
aparantly even in MI 2 u cant drown guybrush... after ten minutes with the monkey island, aparantly he swims ot the surface and the monkey head disapears from the inventory...

or do u mean the fact that it happens in the first one, but not the sequels? (drowning guybrush i mean)

In MI1, before the internet and before easter eggs, me and my family were merrily drowning Guybrush. He eventually goes purple I think, and then you have no control left over him. It does take 10 minutes though, definitely worth it.
