Lag is still there for a lot of people.  Same with not being able to log on for various reasons.  I hear it quite a bit in CoH and on other forums.

I'm not saying WoW can't be fun, I'm sure it is for some folks.  But for me, I've played enough fantasy MMORPGs to not want more of the same.  I'd rather just go back to DAoC instead.

WOW - Best MMOG I Have played between levels 1 - 60!!

Afterwards..... its a lot slower.... perhaps all the new content will eventually make end game a lot more fun...... so am cancelling my subscription until Xmas to see the changes.......

First MMoG i can think of that appeals to the Casual Gamer. And contrary to popular belief I am a casual gamer.

Access, have you tried City of Heroes?  It seems like 70% of the content is for casual gamers, with the rest being affairs for large groups of people for extended periods of time.  You can log in, play for an hour, and have a definite amount of progress that you can see... and it's FUN.

You can, but it's not as fun.  All archetypes can't do it as well as some...  and the last 10 levels (40-50) consists largely of Archvillain fights, which **usually** need more than one person.

See I like WoW because its basically a Single Player RPG set in the Warcraft Universe (I am one of those creepy geeks that know far to much about the intimate deails of a fantasy world e.g. Trekkies), well its as close as im going to get anytime soon anyways, I occastionally party when I need to and its fun, but for the most part I like to do my own thing. PVP Doesnt interest me.

I like Warcraft for the world, never have I seen a World more lovingly rendered. Im a big envoirnment geek, if the City in City of Heros is incredible designed envoirnment and can be described as mind blowing then I watering at the mouth.

Especially as a big Comic book fan with a huge interest in the mythos of super heros a MMoG set in the Super Hero world does sound highly appealing, and if I have time I fully intend to play it...

But as usual the developers wont make the effort and release it here in Oz. Final Fantasy XI only came to Oz a couple of months ago... and im not even sure if Star Wars Galaxies is even released here yet, if it has been it wasnt too long ago. I congratulate Blizz for releasing WoW here at all let alone at the same time as the US.

And whats this BS about a free comic book to those that play in the US or Canada, if they arent going to make the effort for me, why should I make it for them...

This whole focus on the US/Canda thing pisses me off. Either they do it for everyone or no one, favortism blows.

The "BS" is about the shipping charges.  That's the official line, and besides, the comic book isn't that great Wink

As for the game world being rendered well, it is.  There are some areas that seem dark and drab, but that's for a reason.  Take for example, King's Row.  King's Row is one of the early starter zones (levels 5-9) that was a former industrial area until a crime group known as the "Kings" virtually took over. Now the "Kings" are gone, but the area is mostly slums.  As such, it's dark and gritty.

Then there areas like Boomtown, and Faultline... Faultline you have to see to believe.  Boomtown is interesting, but it's just a ruined area of the city.  There is visible damage everywhere.  Faultline was actually destroyed by an earthquake, and words can't describe it very well.  There are large rifts in the ground, very deep down.  The buildings and ground are often sunken or twisted or leaning, showing the damage well.

There are loads of instanced indoor missions available only to you and your team in addition to the outdoor areas.  There are story arcs where you participate in the game's story and complete arcs several missions long.  If you team up with several people, you can even start a "Task Force", which is a connected series of missions that culminates in a battle with an Archvillain.

All this, and free updates every 4 months or so that constitute an entire expansion pack.  For instance, right now they're bringing in an Arena where Heroes can fight eachother if they so choose.  The same update (called Issue 4, in keeping with the "comic book" theme, it's the 4th major expansion) brings a number of new costume options, power alterations in the interest of balance/interest, and more.

Issue 3 brought in an enormous new zone complete with new contacts, mission types, and task forces, two new hero archetypes for players to play (after you've reached level 50 and unlocked them), new costume options.... it was an awesome update.

Issue 2 provided 3-4 entirely new zones to play in with a very sci-fi feel to them, and lots, lots more.  It's all good.

The game starts out a little slow and you really don't start getting a feel for your character until level 10-12.  There is now actual "loot" as well, once you can participate in the massive end-game raids.  The game is incredibly fun, and takes a long time to get to 50.  Nevertheless, your 30-minute-to-60-minute play sessions won't make you feel like you can never complete the game since even in the high levels you can still make good progress.

What they havnt set up local offices and points with at least out sourced staff to address local issues like blizz has?.. Tongue

But seriously it feels like a slap in the face...  im a lesser priority gamer despite the quality of the publication.... They should exclusively make it available online or distribute it to everyone.

Hey is it all over the top like Freedom Force? Because that would rock.. still sounds good though... those worlds sound very cool, very muck like Mystery Men comic book etc....

When it comes to the cliche set of heros im am bit of a fan of the Marvel Superheros...  but am MORE of a fan of the non realistic cities in the DCU like Metropolis and Gotham City rather than being set in New York. Is more relateable to everyone equally. So this having a phamtom city is a good idea.

But an easy approach to level 50/60 is IMO a better approach. Isnt it true for MMOG's that the "real" game starts at level 50/60 and the end game content comes into play. 1-50/60 should be just training. Blizz of course currently fails on providing the end game content, but I think their on the right track with this easy level path.
