You can also simply preorder from a US/Canadian store... Which one? As far as I know, because of US-law, the stores are not allowed to export computer software. So please, if you know a store that actually does ship games to Europe, let me know, cause generally it's cheaper for me to buy basically anything from US. Even if I order ONE music CD from Amazon, it costs me still less (even including shipping costs) then a CD bought in any Swedish store. The difference is even bigger when it comes to computer games. |

The monitor-burnout thing, not a nVidia thingy. Actual people with hi-end ATI cards have been reporting starting up a game, say RTCW: Enemy Territory, and their screen going kabloohey. You know the effect you get when pointing a camera connected to a TV, into the TV screen? Hopefully, you don't. It's not pleasant, something like looking at a mirror image of itself, only add tons of light that increases with geometric speed.
Well, that's what apparently happened. It's supposedly because the drivers were on some systems, or games\apps, or setting, or something, feeding the monitor with uneven sync rates, or something in that general direction.

Also note that at the moment there isn't any CPU/graphics adapter being able to run the game in Ultra mode! I've been reading about yet-to-be-released graphics cards and minimum of 2GB dual-channel RAM. :rolleyes That's what people were originally saying, but they've shown that it's entirely possible to get around 46 FPS on an absolutely top-of-the-line system in Ultra Quality, 1600x1200 with 4XAA and 8XAF. There's always gonna be some jackass selling stupid people the alpha in a box, or some shit like that, just like there's always gonna be people bragging that because they "know people" or they "are special" or some stuff, they get the game before everybody else. One good one I heard was that some guy trawled LA for hours till he found the one copy that one retailer was holding on to, but got it because he was in some dumb championship. Hell, if I was a retailer with one copy of D3 in, I'd buy it for myself. Plus ID'd never ship it _anywhere_ before release date, as it'd be warez'd to Mars and back in hours, tops.
