Well, but it's not going to be big or anything, I think.. Sure, standard deathmatch will be there, but for multiplayer goodness, we should wait for Quake 4, by the same company.. I remember reading an article at the time Doom 3 was still in early production, saying that they would make Doom 3 a single player experience, since that's what doom was all about.. With that, I doubt multiplayer will be anything special...

-Doom 3's multiplayer only allows for 4 people.

-To play the game with settings on full, you'll need at least a Radeon 9800 Pro, 1024 RAM, and a P4 3.0. They even go so far as to recommend 2048 RAM... And that's only in 1024X768 resolution. It's not possible to go any higher with today's PCs.

Normally I don't go for straightforward shooters, but if it has the capacity to scare the hell out of me, I'm all for it. The PC Gamer review says it's slower paced and ammo is limited... Which is a good thing, in my opinion. Endless onslaughts of monsters just isn't scary.

Damn right...
Thanks for those system requirements, yeah, I'll have to buy some RAM, and upgrading to at least a 3.0 is a good thing anyways... Oh well.. Still like 18 days to go =P

EDIT: Oh oh.. Another source saying something else... =\

PC Gamer recommends:
2Ghz CPU
512 MB ram
Radeon 9800
5-channel audio

Lowest supported GPU is a Geforce 4 MX (worse than Geforce 3)
Supported cards:
GF 4 MX
GF 3
GF 4
GF FX (and higher)
ATI 8500s, 9000s and higher "

Got this from PlanetDoom Forums...

Any idea what's the better estimate? Has ID given out anything?

Hmm, what Marcus writes is quite encouraging. I was afraid that requirements would be considerably higher. If a “recommended” computer is 2Ghz CPU with Radeon 9800PRO, then I guess that my Athlon 2000+ with Geforce 5900 ain’t too bad either. But I will need to upgrade my RAM. I only have 256 MB. I never bothered to upgrade it cause I haven’t played any new game for almost 6 months. I even made a mistake for buying the new GF card, cause I literally didn't have a real use of it just yet and it also makes some strange quiet "squealing" noises at some points (some GF5900 owners have raported this unexplained issue). Oh well…

The specifications I pulled were for maximum settings (excluding resolution).

Excellent! Then I won't need to upgrade. \O/ I'll won't be able to run it on full specs, but a medium performance will do.. I'm no whine. Tongue

PS. Another 'I read somewhere': I read somewhere that when the guys at ID start developing a game, that right at the start of production, they buy a rig that's the best at that time, and build the game around that. So, basically that would mean that even 2 year old systems won't have a bad time playing that game. ^_^

And a Geforce 4 MX is even supported =O I had that card not so long ago, and it's the suckiest card ever. It's about the same as a Geforce 2. It's like the Geforce 4, only stripped of all the cool extra's. Looks like Doom 3 isn't the big demanding game I thought it was. =D

This is going to be so awesome on my PC Cheesy. Maximum settings and full-on 5.1 surround sound. I'm going to have the living hell scared out of me.

I need to buy additional 512MB ram and then I'll be ready to play Doom III in high quality. Smiley

Anyone else watched the trailer on doom3.com? It's pretty neat, even though the screen is smaller than my pinky toe.

Eagerly awaiting this game, I reinstalled Doom 2 again =D

Yippie-yay!!!!

Now it`s time to put my old 64mb Radeon 9200 into a REAL test! I`m not into the high detail as long as the game runs well. And I do have a 2Ghz cpu with 512Ram, so no worries Wink

Eagerly awaiting this game, I just started playing Doom 64 Total Conversion for Pc!!!

Humph. I was saving up for a new camera, and got me some 2500€ put aside for that... But seems I'll need to upgrade my puter insead Tongue
Current specs, a Athlon 2200+, 512 megs PC333 RAM, and some old nVidia card (FX 5600). Although 1024x768 will be HUGE on a 24" monitor...

Mhm. The shotgun alone will take up more real-life square centimeters than my mouse pad. And imagine... How big, then, will the cacodemon be?

Better buy some underwear before you go play then. Tongue

I'm quite curious to what the cacodemon will look like.. How it will react and what sounds it'll make.. Just like the pinky demon.. Is it in Doom 3? I hope it is, he was my favourite enemy =)
