New server (yet again) (0 comments) Posted on 2006-10-31 08:54:53 by Harry Hunt As some of you may or may not have noticed, the site was down for a few hours tonite and when it came back up, it didn't display correctly (images were missing and error messages appeared).
Well, what happened? Remember that gamesquad.net, our previous host went out of business? Well, it happened again except this time with our new host and on extremely short notice. I managed to move the database and everything that was on the web server over to a new server just a few hours before our old host turned off the juice and went offline for good. However, updating the nameserver took some time and obviously too long to make the transition entirely seamless.
So I apologize for the downtime, but we're back now.
The new server is much faster than the old one, has more space and unlimited traffic. Obviously it also costs more, but that shouldn't be your concern.
Now we've all been quite unhappy that the games had to be removed due to traffic concerns in the past, but I'm happy to tell you that traffic is no longer a problem. We're currently plotting to bring back at least some of the games in the near future. Now if that isn't good news, I don't know what is.
As for the crappy forum software, I'll come up with a solution for that when I have the time.
Adult games are gone (4 comments) Posted on 2006-06-20 22:00:40 by Harry Hunt bhlegend previously featured a small selection of abandonware adult games which were quite popular among our visitors.
Unfortunately, Google's AdSense service policies do not allow adult content on their publisher's websites so we had to remove them.
We appologize for this and invite all of you looking for our adult games to check out the other games reviewed on this website or to join our community and check out the forums.
Game downloads are still not available, but we're working hard on bringing them back. Thank you for your patience.
LOS ANGELES--In early April, Sega announced that it had purchased Secret Level, a San Francisco-based developer, which would "re-create a classic Sega franchise." Up until now, the identity of said franchise was kept behind closed doors.
Today, the re-created franchise was revealed as Golden Axe, which is getting a second life on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Where as the classic was a beat-'em-up, the new Golden Axe will be an action-role-playing game appearing sometime in 2007.
It's unclear as to whether the original game's stereotypical characters will be included in the new version, but the ability to ride on the back of beasts or take on foes on foot will return, as will the emphasis on balancing both brawn and magic.
Secret Level has a variety of games in various genres under its belt. Among them are America's Army: Rise of a Soldier, Karaoke Revolution, and Magic: The Gathering - Battlegrounds.
Golden Axe has not yet been rated or priced.
